WGA is pressing for progress…are you?

Women In Gaming Event 2017-2.jpg

The last year has seen a wave of activism around the world focused on gender equality. Women have shown great courage in sharing their stories, generating open and robust discussion on misplaced power and bias and workplace discrimination and harassment.

We need to be bold, to be urging more courageous conversations about gender equality and to press for progress. We need to better support and encourage each other to gain momentum and break new ground. Gender parity is over 200 years away according to the World Economic Forum's 2017 Global Gender Gap Report and we can’t accept that.

Recognising a need to support progress for women in the gaming industry, Women in Gaming Australasia (WGA) was established in 2017. Dedicated to empowering women in this thriving and fast-paced industry, WGA supports development and success through education, mentorship and networking opportunities. Gender equality is an issue of economic and social importance and WGA is committed to supporting women’s progress and promotion, valuing the benefits gender equality brings to the workplace and gaming industry.

This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is #PressforProgress and WGA is proud to contribute to and support progress for women and to drive positive change. We encourage all women and men to support the #PressforProgress campaign.

WGA looks forward to bringing you an exciting program of events, learning and development opportunities and a strong network of encouragement and support throughout the year and into the future as we all #PressforProgress.
